The garden of this Twickenham property benefits from mature trees and shrubs which offer depth, texture and privacy. The villa-style Victorian house sits back from the road, close to the rear boundary. Special consideration was required to flip the expected orientation and to draw on elements more often found in a rear garden. Mature Taxus baccata hedging wraps around the house and drive whilst staggered hedges distinguish areas and invite curiosity.

The lawn is flanked by full standard Carpinus betula and, on the lowest tier, by Buxus sempervirens hedging. The central axis leading from the front door and double-fronted bays directed the new configuration; the restrained planting beyond the formal hedging takes the eye to the existing trees around the boundary. 

The comparatively small rear garden benefits from integrated hardwood decking and polished concrete which picks up on the surfaces and colours used within the house.
