The south-facing garden was designed to continue seamlessly from the contemporary glass extension of this Victorian family home. Priority was given to a covered dining area and swimming pool, which used the same Portland limestone paving as inside for a clean and elegant feel. Large Buxus cubed hedges, set between Portland stone paving, are interrupted by lawn grass slips. Beyond the pool and lawn, the bold contrasting plant forms continue with the pale glaucous and half standard olive trees, under-planted with dramatic Phormium tenax ‘Back in Black’.

At the rear of the garden, concealed behind the trees, a bespoke play area combines with the existing pump house. A hardwood decked boardwalk frames the garden whilst linking the stone areas.
